Digital Banking Workshops: Empowering Seniors through Practical Training

Under the DIGISENIORBANK project, partner organisations from Spain, Slovenia and Turkey organised a series of local, one-day practical workshops for senior citizens over the age of 65. The primary objective of these sessions was to implement and test the ‘Digital Banking Literacy Kit’ developed during the project, providing participants with a safe, hands-on environment to build their digital confidence.

Tailored to the needs of older learners, the workshops focused on four key areas:

  • Introduction to Digital Banking: Navigating online platforms and mobile banking applications.

  • Basic Transactions: Simulating day-to-day operations such as balance enquiries and transfers safely.

  • Using the Literacy Kit: Training participants to use the project’s educational materials for independent learning.

  • Cybersecurity Basics: Identifying online frauds and managing secure passwords.

Key Outcomes

The initiative successfully trained at least 90 senior citizens (30 in each participating country), significantly enhancing their financial independence and reducing the digital divide. Additionally, the workshops allowed adult educators to put inclusive teaching methodologies into practice, whilst strictly adhering to eco-friendly guidelines by avoiding paper and single-use plastics.
